Description

This elevator is labeled "Elevator 8". From what I have heard, most of the elevators here are not very reliable. This building is for sale. It is unknown what will happen to this building. It might get demolished, or it might stay open, but this elevator is most likely going to be modernized. Otis black button fixtures. At least on B, 1, and 4, the rotodial indicators are covered up, probably because they don't work anymore. From what I have heard, this building doesn't meet Calfornia seismic codes, and the current owner is thinking about demolishing this building, instead of retrofitting it to meet seismic codes. But if it is retrofitted, they might renovate the whole building, and modernize the elevators. The current owner said they were going to modernize the elevators in 2015-2016, but I don't think that will happen yet, as the current owner is struggling to keep this place open. The fire service was added by U.S. elevator in circa 1970s. The fire service phase 1 panel is a 1970s U.S. square key switch fire service phase 1 panel. Listen to the motor on this elevator! This elevator has possibly the loudest traction motor I have ever heard! I think something is wrong with the motor. The left elevator at Macy's in Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, CA has a similar problem, or the same problem. Notice the interlock (it appears to be a pre-6940A interlock). Listen to the vintage interlock, and door operator! Year installed: Circa 1953
